you built your drum with lids of reciprocity is a multilingual chapbook of poems by senakirfa A., where language is siphoned through a trace of the tonal rhythms of the Asante Twi language*, which are found in and held by a jar that has become, and simultaneously contains, a set of evocative object(s). This object and its content provoke A.’s thoughts on the time-binding and bending force of ancestral breath and its recall to speech and sound, which she enacts in her writings.
*The (Asante) Twi language is a dialect of the Akan language that is most widely spoken in Ghana. The Akan language is also spoken in central and eastern parts of Côte d’Ivoire.
